Ally is 5′2″ and Madison is 5′0″…Woe!
Last week, my wife about freaked out when she realized that our baby girl is only 2 inches shorter than her. My baby girls are getting huge! I am blown away by how fast the time has gone. I remember putting Madison in my guitar case as a baby like it was yesterday and now she’s really turning into a beautiful young lady. We just went to one of my favorite places in the Smokey Mtn. Nat’l Park and we did some hiking at one of my favorite trails called, “Abrams Falls.” The last time we hiked this trail was 9 years ago and Moriah (1) was in a backpack, and Madison was only 4 walking alongside us. We used to go into Townsend and Cade’s Cove as much as possible while attending JBC in Knoxville. So, it was almost surreal to get to go back there all these years later. It was much more of a joy to see the amazement through their eyes than even seeing it again with my own. I love watching my own kids develop…it is truly the joy of my life. Here’s a picture of all of us on a rail along the trail. Aren’t they getting big??

What memories do you have as a child that you think about often?
Wow – that reminds me of when I outgrew my mom
I was about 13 yrs old – She’s 5′4 I am now 5′7, I thought that was soooo cool that I was taller than her.
You and Ally are raising some awesome young ladies – I have Mercy in my class on Sunday mornings and she is a treasure!!
I really don’t remember much about my childhood. One of the things I remember vividly is going to my grandfather’s house as a teen to watch MTV because our family didn’t have cable. (This was when MTV first came on the scene in the 80s.) It would only be on after 10pm and I’d sit on a black and yellow fuzzy beanbag and watch MTV until 2 or 3 in the morning while grandpap would sit in his chair under the big last supper picture and watch me. Sometimes he’d make me bread with grape jelly to eat while I watched it.
Grandpap went to Jesus in 1994…and that picture that hung over his chair now hangs in my apartment. I can’t look at it without remembering him.
