You are not your past. You are not your sin. They do not define you. It is who you were. Its like feeling guilty for being single before you were married. You are married. You aren’t single. The more you allow the enemy to define you by previous shame/guilt/sin…the more you break the heart of God for not believing what he has told you that you are. you are His. You belong to Him. You are not your own property. Your a child of the King. You are free from sin. Your past is gone, clean, annialated. Okay. I am glad we had that conversation.
Remember whose you are..then He’ll remind you who you are!!
Much love, Blake
dude …
i feel the love – Ash & I missed not seeing the girls at church today (not so much you), but hope the rest of your trip rocks … thanks for the reminder – always can count on you for a good truth-filled whack and i appreciate that so much – now go love … right? i’m learning… i’m learning…
adios.
Just found your blog, and so glad to have you at Cross Point. Look forward to meeting you someday! This message came at a great time. I often feel that the sins of my past are keeping me from receiving God’s blessings. Not that He doesn’t love me, not that I won’t enter the promised land, but that I can’t be fully used His way for the remainder of this life because I totally blew the first half of the life He gave me. Does that make sense?
I am a student at St. Louis Christian College. For my Dynamics of Teaching Youth class, I have to find five youth speakers and listen to two of their sermons. This has turned out to be a lot harder than I thought. Do you have some whole sermons online where I can listen to them? Or in video form would even be better? Also Do you have youth speaker friends who have their sermons posted online? You tube has failed me, and I’m running out of time. I hope you can help me, but if you don’t want to I understand. Thanks,
Clare
Due to the timelessness of God, in that God wasn’t, will not be, rather he is. I think we are the entirety of are actions. I may be four years sober, but everything i have done is. This is the beauty of the gospel. no matter how long i wait, my do not vanish, since i am, not i will be or was. I am no better and have no hope of being better than anyone because i am and i can’t change my past actions, but grace covers all of who i am.
C.S. Lewis once said that the present is the time period most connected to eternity. What we do is recorded in eternity, but on christ’s death, the entirety of who we are, is forgiven.
